NAMES Shaylee Nalder and Phillip Earl Cooper II LIVE IN The Avenues neighborhood OCCUPATIONS She’s an esthetician; he’s a hair stylist and educator. WHERE THEY MET At a fashion show in SLC HOW HE PROPOSED He picked her up for a date and on their drive he pulled over due to “car trouble.” He asked her to come out and help; she reluctantly got out of the car to find him kneeling in the snow. Behind them, on a freeway overpass, stood her entire family, and the words “Marry Me Shay” spelled out in cups on the bridge fence. WEDDING WEATHER Sunny with blue skies; a perfect summer evening in the mountains NUMBER OF GUESTS Ceremony: 90; reception: 250-plus WEDDING TIME 5 p.m. WEDDING STYLE Bohemian, whimsical, and ethereal, inspired by Kate Moss’s boho-chic nuptials featured in Vogue’s September 2011 issue COLORS Earth tones; the bride wanted everyone dressed in white, cream, and ivory BRIDAL STYLE She wore a chiffon and lace dress for a vintage feel and a long veil a la Ms. Moss; being a free spirit, she wanted to get married in bare feet, so she wore barefoot sandals. FLOWERS Arrangements of English garden roses, ranunculus, peegee hydrangea, blooming oregano, lavender, greenery, and more; bridesmaids and flower girls donned floral crowns DÉCOR DETAILS They brought in vintage couches to create a lounge area at their park venue; the bride displayed her late grandma’s wedding dress, a family tradition. FOR KIDDOS Teepees for the bride’s and groom’s sons to play in, and bamboo fishing poles for the park’s stream RECEPTION MENU Barbecue chicken sandwiches, pasta salad, broccoli salad, fresh fruit, and veggies DESSERT Banana cake with cream-cheese frosting and nectarine mascarpone; cookies, cheesecake bites, and peanut-butter fingers; snow cones for kids FAVORITE RECEPTION MOMENT Dancing their pants off GRAND EXIT Everyone blew bubbles as the couple exited to a favorite song, “Om Nashi Me” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
