Park City’s Chomp Donuts Raises the Bar

With meticulously handcrafted flavors and a community mindset.

“No shortcuts.” That’s the philosophy of Jeff Mahin, the co-owner and chef behind Park City’s Chomp Donuts & Coffee, which opened in fall 2025. At the triangle-shape storefront in Kimball Junction, every detail reflects that ethos: Vanilla bean paste is made in-house, honey cinnamon coffee syrup features 100 percent local honey, and even the sprinkles are crafted on-site. Seasonally, a blowtorch caramelizes tops of crème brûlée doughnuts. And the same rigor extends to service, where hospitality is as carefully considered as the food.

The team behind it all—Mahin, with experience in Michelin-star kitchens; Rick Nemeroff, a local former trial lawyer; and Leah Erickson, who leads catering and sales—set out to create something more meaningful than a typical doughnut shop. For example, before opening, they hand-delivered free doughnuts to volunteers during Live PC Give PC. Teachers, first responders, and ski patrollers receive discounts at Chomp, and surplus doughnuts are regularly delivered to local hospitals and fire and police stations.

“We’ve always said that being the fabric of the community is what would make Chomp work,” says Mahin. The effort continues through a mobile food trailer, which has appeared at events like skijoring in Heber and Friday Night Lights at Utah Olympic Park. “Seeing kids and parents share a hot doughnut and cocoa on-site is heartwarming,” adds Erickson.

Each of Chomp’s 12 rotating doughnut flavors is tested until it’s considered a “10/10.” While about 80 percent of the menu remains consistent, the rest evolves with the seasons—think peach in the summer, pumpkin and apple cider in the fall. Texture is central to Mahin’s approach, seen in the maple granola cake doughnut, dipped in maple and topped with pumpkin spice, cinnamon, freeze-dried maple granules, and a bit of Maldon salt to balance the sweetness. The coffee program at Chomp is equally as exacting. Baristas weigh the milk for consistency and use from-scratch syrups—added at no charge—to elevate espresso drinks. The doughnut shop maintains an impressive 4.9-star average on Google, which Nemeroff attributes to both the staff’s hospitality and the precision behind every recipe.

Chomp’s signature blue boxes have become a hit for office events and celebrations. And its reach is expanding beyond Park City, with plans for a future Salt Lake City location and appearances at NBA suites at the Delta Center. Even as Chomp grows, the team is focused on the original vision: “We want to be that local place where we know people’s names and everything is high-quality and transparent,” says Mahin.  chompdonuts.com
