You don’t need to wait for snowfall to enjoy Utah’s hottest new winter sport. Since professional hockey’s arrival in Salt Lake City last year—the Utah Mammoth is the state’s first NHL club—interest in ice hockey is also gaining traction in Park City.

Park City Ice Miners

FOR KIDS & TEENS

Youngsters looking to lace up and play can join the Park City Ice Miners, an amateur hockey league for boys and girls ages 18 and under. While no hockey knowledge is required, it’s best if interested kids have some ice skating experience. Total newbies can develop their skate skills at the Park City Ice Arena’s Skating and Hockey Academies before joining this league.

FOR ADULTS

Adults who want to play in a recreational league can join the Park City Hockey League at the Park City Ice Arena, which offers divisions for all skill levels, plus a separate women’s league. Want to take your existing hockey abilities to the next level before league play? Sign up for a skills training camp in town with Apex Hockey. These camps focus on refining essential hockey skills, such as edgework, balance, posture, and puck handling. If you need some basic skill-building before shooting a puck, join the city-run Park City Skating and Hockey Academy

FOR HOCKEY FANS

There’s a new hockey team in town: Utah Outliers. This elite junior team recently moved to Park City’s new ice rink at Black Rock Mountain Resort after nine years at West Valley’s Acord Ice Center. The new arena accommodates 2,000 hockey fans and features a state-of-the-art training facility for players. Utah Outliers are a U-20 Tier II Junior Hockey team, the highest level of amateur hockey in North America, and the club is made up of 17- to 20-year-olds from across North America and Europe.

Utah’s new NHL team was recently renamed the Utah Mammoth.

After playing its inaugural season as Utah Hockey Club, the Utah Mammoth selected fan-favorite Mammoth as its permanent moniker—ushering in a new ice age in Utah. The team sold out all 41 home games during the 2024 season, setting a league attendance record. Catch a game at the Delta Center from now until April.
