As the chartreuse-trimmed storefront suggests, Root’d (596 Main St, 435.214.7791) isn’t your typical mountain-abode boutique. You won’t find knotty alder furnishings, duck trinkets, or plaid throws here. Owner Melissa Berry handpicks the store’s eclectic inventory of shimmering quartz chandeliers, sleek Lucite chairs, and hippie-chic leather dream catchers—an aesthetic she describes as “a luxed-up version of western décor” with a dash of bohemian flair. The roomy, two-story digs also serve as a living portfolio for Berry’s interior design firm, offering a range of services from complete turnkey redos to “à la carte” advice such as helping clients select paint swatches or artwork. An Ohio native, Berry first visited Park City four years ago and, like so many now-locals, never left. “I love the mountains, the weather, the people—it just felt like home,” she says. She shipped her belongings out west, opened up shop on Main Street, and soon after met her hubby, Dave. They wed last fall in a Root’d-esque celebration, but “with more sparkles,” says Berry with a wink.

“I love antiques and vintage patterns, but I also love ‘the new,’” says Berry. When creating an interior, she juxtaposes clean, traditional design with something modern and a touch of whimsy. “I focus on new classics—I want design to be timeless.” She recommends trendy details in small doses: “Buy the bright chevron pillows, not the bright chevron sofa.”
