Watching a truly great skier fly past you on the slopes evokes a complicated emotion: part love, part awe, and part envy. For a taste of elite skiing at its best, carve down the mountain and punch through the moguls with an Olympic medalist at Deer Valley Resort (435.649.1000, deervalley.com). Ambassador of Skiing Heidi Voelker heads up the “Ski with a Champion” roster of six additional Olympic snow sport athletes, including Kaylin Richardson, Fuzz Feddersen, Chris Waddell, Shannon Bahrke, Jillian Voglti, and Trace Worthington. These uber athletes are just as personable as they are talented—by the end of the day you’ll walk (or limp) away actually feeling pretty good about yourself. Full day $2,000; half day $1,200.
WHY NOT KEEP THE DREAM alive with an exceedingly indulgent après-ski experience? Book Deer Valley Resort’s iconic Sunset Cabin (located at the bottom of Sunset at the Birdseye intersect) and throw the ultimate slopeside lunch or wine-and-cheese social. On the menu: cheese fondue, charcuterie, house-smoked salmon, turkey chili with house-made bread, gourmet sandwiches, and Deer Valley’s famous jumbo cookies. Prices vary based on menu; $1,200 minimum includes $600 rental fee.
