Jared + Kat: A Deer Valley Engagement Session

Our hearts melted scrolling through Kat + Jared's engagement session at Deer Valley. It's not just the magnificent mountains behind them or the surprise snowfall, but you can clearly see the love they share for each other.

Where they're from Jared's hometown is Kansas City, Kansas and Kat's from Gulfport, Mississippi.

How they met "We were freshman at the time and we shared Freehand Drawing class together. One day Jared was walking in front of my dorm room and I stopped him to say, 'Hey, you’re in my drawing class. Where are you going?'At the time I was a Pre-Architecture major working to get accepted into the architecture college. He was already in the architecture studio and working on projects. He showed me around studio and we were together ever since." - Kat Ernst

Favorite part of the shoot "We laughed the whole time. It was really special when it started to snow." - Kat Ernst

How he proposed Kat and Jared traveled to Wyoming to see the solar eclipse. They camped at the top of Squire Mountain and waited. Jared proposed at the exact moment the moon passed over the sun, and in darkness he reached for the engagement ring.

"It was dark and all I could see was the sparkle of the ring that he managed to pull out of nowhere. I said yes! It just so happened to coincide with the moment during totality when the moon starts to pass over the sun and relieve the sun for a brief moment to showcase the diamond ring. It was really special and will forever be memorable." - Kat Ernst

The wedding They're looking into sometime next year and hope to get married in New Orleans, Louisiana.

When you can act like kids together, you know you found the right person. We're obsessed with the photo of Kat & Jared catching snowflakes. It reminds us to enjoy the simple treasures that might be right under—or above—our noses.
