LIVE IN She currently lives in downtown SLC and he is stationed in North Carolina, but they’re moving to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado OCCUPATIONS She’s a medical device sales representative; he’s an army officer HOW THEY MET He found her on his Facebook newsfeed through their mutual friends. She and some of their friends went to West Point together, and he served with them in the Army. They started chatting via Facebook, then texting, and then talked on the phone and via Facetime. He flew out from Germany to meet her one month later for a short weekend before he deployed to Afghanistan. They dated long distance for two years before he moved back to North Carolina. HOW THEY GOT ENGAGED He had about 24 hours to visit her before he had to leave for training at Fort Benning, Georgia. She hopped on a plane to Atlanta and he surprised her with a stay at the St. Regis, where he proposed. WEDDING STYLE Warm and romantic with touches of rustic-elegance NUMBER OF GUESTS 165 CULTURAL ELEMENTS The military-style wedding included the saber arch after the ceremony; per tradition, one of the saber-bearers taps the bride’s bottom with the saber as she walks through the arch FAVORITE CEREMONY MOMENTS Saying their vows and having their good friend, Army Chaplain Major William Tripp, officiate the ceremony MENU Butter-poached Maine lobster and stuffed beef medallion with creamy au gratin potatoes DESSERT Apple tarte tatin and a four-tier cake with layers of chocolate, lemon poppyseed, and coconut cake with raspberry and strawberry filling LATE-NIGHT SNACKS Flatbread pizza and lavender shortbread cookies FIRST DANCE SONG “From the Ground Up” by Dan + Shay THE DAY IN THREE WORDS Lovely, exciting, perfection
