NAMES Erica Navarro and Phillip Evans Cushing LIVE IN New York, New York OCCUPATIONS They’re both corporate lawyers. WHERE THEY MET At Boston College at a party hosted by the groom and his roommates (many of whom were in the wedding party). After college, the bride and groom attended Columbia Law School together. WHERE HE PROPOSED On Lighthouse Beach in Chatham, Cape Cod, while vacationing over Columbus Day weekend (the groom’s family tradition); it was the same spot where they had taken an early morning walk on their first visit to the area together five years earlier. He surprised her by asking her mom, dad, and sister to join their weekend engagement celebration. THEIR APPROACH TO WEDDING PLANNING They wanted the day to focus on the significance of the sacrament and the natural beauty surrounding them in Utah. NUMBER OF GUESTS 107 WEDDING STYLE Simple and timeless; they’ve always been drawn to the beauty of the understated. COLORS White, dove gray, charcoal, and light opal-pink SPLURGE/SAVE By keeping their guest list near the 100 mark, they were able to have the wedding of their dreams, from the venue to the flowers to the menu. DESTINATION DETAILS They were adamant about making each guest feel appreciated and excited to be in Utah; they included special touches such as by-guest personalized itineraries, meal-specific place cards, and carefully appointed welcome bags. RELIGIOUS ELEMENT They wed in a traditional Roman Catholic Mass. FAVORITE CEREMONY MOMENT When they finally joined hands after the bride walked down the aisle FLOWERS Hydrangeas, ranunculus, eucalyptus, and simple greens RECEPTION MENU FAVORITE The Montage Short Ribs—they were incredible and not your typical wedding food. DRINKS A twist on his and hers cocktails incorporating their joint alma maters: the Boston College “Eagle” made with whiskey, bitters, club soda, and a citrus rind (the groom’s choice), and the Columbia Law School “Lion” featuring vodka, lemonade, club soda, and cucumber. DESSERT Soft lemon cake with fresh raspberries FIRST DANCE A cover of Empire of the Sun’s “Walking on a Dream” FAVORITE RECEPTION MOMENT Dancing with friends and family to “Sweet Caroline” and “New York, New York,” two songs that reflect (and have defined) much of their relationship together. FAVORS Custom luggage tags embossed with the wedding date and a pine tree THE DAY IN THREE WORDS Sacred, idyllic, unforgettable HONEYMOON Greece, Athens, and the islands of Milos, Folegandros, and Santorini

We were told the day would be exhausting, stressful, and full of obligations. None of that was the case. It was all incredibly fun.—Erica & Phillip
