From the Runway: Houghton Bride Spring/Summer 2016

By Tessa Woolf April 28, 2015

We're big fans of NYC-based Houghton Bride 'round these parts, so it's no surprise that designer Katharine Polk's Spring/Summer 2016 collection set our hearts aflutter and kicked our wanderlust into high gear.

Inspired by the spirit and aesthetic of a gypsy bohemian bride, the worldly '70s-esque collection features globally glam and casual-chic looks for the ladies (think caftans, wispy wildflower prints, and lace overalls) crafted in silk, chiffons, crochets, delicate embroideries, and eyelet and guipure laces. A few styles for man-bun wearing gents also make an appearance; we're digging the short-sleeved tunic paired with slouchy gray slacks and fresh white sneakers.

For the presentation, held at Industria Super Studio earlier this month during Spring Bridal Market, models paraded down a Persian rug-strewn runway---a decor idea we love for an aisle runner at indoor or outdoor weddings. From the show notes:

The light and airy spirit of a gypsy... a collector of mementos of world travels... shells and beads, stones and crystals... natural beauty remembered in the floral motifs in lace, leather, and chiffon... delicate crochets and embroideries, ancient handcrafts... the spontaneous wedding in a foreign land to the found soul mate and the fellow traveler...
