Blueberry Hues & Oyster Shells Wedding Inspiration

By Tessa Woolf March 6, 2015

Inspired by the rustic elegance of oyster shells and the ripe hues of wild blueberries, this editorial-style shoot by Erin Kate Photography and Soil & Stem has us dreaming of breezy seaside escapes and juicy summer fruit. The coupling of organic details---shells, twine, linen, salt---and refreshing blue, green, taupe, and gray colors offers beautiful style for weddings held on the sand or in the mountains. The theme, a sophisticated take on "something blue," is a perfect fit for warm and sunny celebrations, but we also love it for rainy spring, crisp fall, and even snowy winter events. Dive into the photos below, and read on for more info about the duo's inspiration.

"Whether you live by the sea or not you can always incorporate beautiful details to make your wedding feel like the salt-water air is near. A wild blueberry hued floral arrangement and muted gray oyster shells complement each other to bring together this rustic, elegant sea-inspired editorial shoot.

The bride wears a simple dress and carries a delicate bouquet of blues and greens. Clean white plates and napkins sprinkled with blueberries set the table while vintage silver flatware frames the plates for a rustic touch. The shells and Russian olive sprigs are loosely arranged as a table runner on a taupe linen tablecloth. Oyster shells also act as vessels for salt and pepper so guests can season their entrees.

A simple cake adorned with blueberries sits atop a distressed metal stand. The berries are reminiscent of the lovely pearls that oysters gift us. Linen twin wraps each table number placed in a small pot of blueberries. A touch of twine also adorns the hand-written thank-you notes penned by the bride and groom for each guest."
