Perched at the peak of Little Cottonwood Canyon, is one of my favorite locations in all of Utah: Alta. The mountains are breathtaking, the skiing is fantastic, and come July, the wildflowers are out of this world. Local couple Jenny Levin and Chris Workman would certainly agree--the Sugar House-based duo wed at the Alta Lodge in July 2012. Today we're sharing photos and details of their beautiful mountain nuptials, captured by Erin Kate Photography.

Jenny, a physician, and Chris, an engineer, didn't have a theme for their summer wedding, but they chose a soft, natural color palette of yellow and gray. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows in an outdoor ceremony with the majestic Wasatch Mountains as a backdrop. As a surprise to the couple, the bride's mom and sister, the wedding planners, hid white cow bells under the chairs of all the guests at the ceremony. As the officiant said, "You may kiss the bride," everyone pulled out their bells and rang in celebration! After, guests enjoyed dinner on the patio and danced the night away under a star-filled sky.

The bride, Jenny, shares her favorite detail of the wedding:

Although the flowers were gorgeous (thank you, Sarah Winward!!), and the cake was to die for (I couldn't wait for our one-year anniversary to get another taste!), if I had to choose my favorite detail I think it would be my garter. Only the guests who made it to the after-party got to see it, but I wore it the whole night. It was my mom's garter that she wore on her wedding day (now 43 years and counting!), and my sister wore it at her wedding, too. Now it's in safe-keeping for the next generation!

Following their Alta wedding, the couple honeymooned in South Africa. Congratulations, Jenny and Chris!
