TWICE AS NICE Dresses with detachable skirts, capes, and trains pull double-duty; wear the full shebang to your ceremony, then ditch the top layer to transform your look for the reception. Try a floral column gown with tiered tulle cape (which can also be worn as a skirt) from Oscar de la Renta (below, center), or a strapless mini dress with tulle overskirt from Anne Barge (below, right) or Lazaro (below, left). Find it here: Anne Barge at Alta Moda Bridal; check out Betsy Couture’s custom convertible gown with a removable overskirt and belt.
IN FULL PLUME Feathered skirts took flight on the runways: Pronovias’ (from left) was flared and beaded; Kelly Faetanini’s was genuine, hand-dyed, and had feathers strategically placed for a striking ombre effect; Reem Acra’s was flapper-inspired. Find it here: Pronovias at Danielle’s Bridal, Reem Acra at Gateway Bridal.
ARMED AND GORGEOUS Right now our favorite sleeve styles are fully loaded. Consider (from left) Heidi Elnora’s minimal sheath with long sleeves, Douglas Hannant’s sophisticated mermaid gown with beaded sleeves, and Elizabeth Fillmore’s butterfly tulle frock with bell sleeves. Find it here: Elizabeth Fillmore at Alta Moda Bridal.
FIRST PLACE Metallics are having a major moment, from dresses to desserts (see our "Precious Metals" feature for more inspiration). Baroque adornments, spun-gold threadwork, and gilded fabrics shone brightly at Marchesa (from left), Anna Maier-Ulla Maija, and Ines Di Santo. Find it here: Go for the gold with Sarah Seven’s After Midnight gown from The Brides’ Shop.
