Real Utah Wedding: Katie & Bryan at Red Cliff Ranch

By Tessa Woolf July 12, 2013

You may remember local bride Katie Wright from the Last Look spotlight in our Winter/Spring 2013 issue. We featured Katie and her dad, Peter Wright, Jr., who escorted his daughter to the aisle on his vintage motorcycle. (You can see the fun spotlight here.) Today, we're sharing more of Katie's wedding to Bryan Verbrugge Markkanen; the Park City couple wed at Red Cliff Ranch in Heber City last August. Below, enjoy a look at additional images of their casual, eco-friendly celebration by Jamy Beecher Photography, read more about the couple and the details of their big day, and check out their list of local wedding vendors.

Katie works for The Park City Foundation, and Bryan is an architect at Elliot WorkGroup. The couple met in a "typical Park City, small-town way," as Katie puts it. They had known each other for years and had friends in common, and at one point things fell in to place. "At Halloween we were dating, after Thanksgiving we were a couple, and by ski season I was sure he was the one," recalls Katie of their courtship.

The couple didn't have a theme for their big day, but it was important to them that the wedding take advantage of Utah's beauty and be in a place that invited relaxation and joy. The wedding was casual, with a focus on celebration and fun. They tried to be as eco-friendly as possible: They used old coffee bean bags as tablecloths, and old bottles and vases, and they re-used some of the items they purchased by donating them to local non-profits. One of their favorite "green" details: Instead of printed menus and programs, they bought old windows from Recycle Utah and painted the info on them with white chalkboard paint. Congratulations Katie and Bryan!

Thank you Katie, Bryan, and Jamy Beecher for sharing these wedding photos with us!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
