Puppy Love: SLC Engagement Shoot with Winston the Bulldog by Heather Nan Photography

By Tessa Woolf August 10, 2012

You may recognize the following couple, Ellen and Gabriel, from the current issue of Salt Lake/Park City Bride & Groom. We showcased the couple and their adorable bulldog, Winston, in our engagement feature. We didn't have space in our pages to share the trio's entire photo shoot, captured by Heather Nan Photography, so we're sharing their full engagement feature on the blog today. We love the idea of including man's best friend, or any beloved pet, in your engagement shoot. Be inspired by Ellen and Gabriel's darling images, and read on for more details about their photo shoot.

Ellen shares her inspiration for the couple's fun engagement shoot:

I have a background in interior design and I love modern, colorful spaces. Gabriel is a law student but his creative outlet is writing/recording music and creating original graphic paintings when he has free time. Together we love traveling, attending live music shows, and enjoying the outdoors. We both felt like the downtown Salt Lake Public Library and the urban areas and brightly painted walls surrounding it would be the perfect backdrop for our engagement shoot.

When I met Heather to discuss our photo contract I mentioned that it would be really fun to include our newly adopted bulldog, Winston, in some of our photos. She was thrilled about the idea and suggested we have him join us for the second half of our shoot. Winston patiently waited in our Jeep for a couple hours before he got his chance to shine. It was so fun to include him because he has such a strong personality and, of course, we love him like a child. He ended up stealing the show in most of the shots!

Ellen and Gabriel were married June 1, 2011 at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, followed by a reception and a luncheon at Market Street Grill Cottonwood. After the wedding, the duo (and Winston, natch) lived in Boston, and they're currently moving to Washington D.C. Good luck you three!

Thank you Heather Nan, Ellen, and Gabriel for sharing your engagement shoot with us!
