Che Bella Festa: Margherita Missoni's Gypsy-Chic Italian Nuptials

By Tessa Woolf July 10, 2012

We're huge Missoni fans here at SLPCBG, so when we heard Margherita Missoni got hitched this June, we couldn't wait to see the fashion heiress's wedding snaps. We're happy to report Missoni's gypsy-chic wedding didn't disappoint!

Last month, Missoni married her longtime beau, race car driver Eugenio Amos, in Brunello, Italy. The style-savvy bride didn't wed in her family's trademark zig-zag prints--instead, she dreamed up a princess-like frock hand-crafted from Missoni silk and organza with the assistance of designer Giambattista Valli. The voluminous dress featured an off-the shoulder bodice and billowy ruched tulle sleeves. She chose metallic gladiator-style sandals for her walk down the aisle, and topped her braided tresses with a silver tiara and long veil for the formal church ceremony.

Amos, the dapper groom, donned plaid pants and a traditional tailcoat for the I do's. In true bohemian fashion, bridesmaids wore floral skirts and gowns paired with flower headdresses designed to match the bride's bouquet. (We had a hunch floral crowns would be big this wedding season!)

At the outdoor picnic-style reception, guests dined from colorful striped tablesettings while seated atop trademark chevron-print Missoni pillows and cushions spread throughout the relaxed, grassy setting. We love the idea of a fancified picnic for a wedding reception! And how darling are the heart-shaped place cards?

Our favorite detail, though, was the couple's beyond sweet heart-shaped berry tart. The duo chose the massive, fruity dessert in place of a traditional tiered wedding cake. Such a yummy idea!

What do you think of Margherita Missoni's wedding? Are you digging the laid-back vibe like we are, or did you expect something more dressy from the young fashionista? Share your two cents in the comment section below!
