Dress of the Week: Carolina Herrera Duchess Satin Wedding Gown with Sleeves

By Tessa Woolf December 7, 2011

Have you ever seen designer Carolina Herrera in an interview? She is the epitome of class and elegance. I adore her signature white collared shirts, coiffed blonde tresses, and bright red lipstick.

Considering Herrera's own personal style, it's no surprise her wedding gown designs are equally classic and elegant. Case in point: "Chrissy," an off-white duchess satin overlay bridal gown from Herrera's spring 2012 collection.

The gown's crisp bodice and elbow-length sleeves (a big trend for 2012 bridal fashion) remind me of Herrera's favorite white button-ups. The oversize bow at the waist is girly without being too precious, and the full ball gown skirt is simply timeless.

I love the whisper-pink suede heel peeking out from the hem of the gown in this runway photo. I'd pair this dress with a sophisticated shoe--no frills; the gown's large bow is embellishment enough--like these Manolo Blahnik asymmetrical strap suede pumps in dusty rose.

What do you think of this dress? Do you like the sleeves and bow? Would you wear this dress on your wedding day?
