Late Summer, Country Wedding Inspiration Shoot by Sego Event Planning & Floral Design and Casey McFarland Photography

Happy Friday! Are you all excited for the long Labor Day weekend? I'm heading up to Park City to spend the weekend with friends--what about the rest of you? Wherever you end up, I hope everyone has a fun three days and enjoys this last big weekend of summer.

Speaking of the end of summer (sniffle, sniffle), today I have a late summer, country wedding inspiration shoot to share with you all before sending you off on the long weekend! The inspiration shoot was photographed by Casey McFarland, and designed and planned by Andi Saxton, formerly of Andi Saxton Event Planning & Floral Design, now of Sego Event Planning & Floral Design. (Why the name change? Because Saxton recently opened a darling retail store named Sego in Logan. Why 'Sego?' The sego lily is the state flower of Utah and was a symbol of peace and hope during WWI and WWII. But I'm getting sidetracked...back to the inspiration shoot!)

Saxton chose a red, white, and blue color palette for this summer soiree and included charming country and rustic-chic details throughout the decor. I can see this wedding taking place in July, August or September on a ranch, at a farm, or in a sprawling backyard...

One element of this inspiration shoot I love is the cheese table--such a delicious idea for couples to replicate. And with Utah's abundance of cheese producers, there are plenty of tasty local morsels to choose from (for suggestions, check out our article "Say Cheese" in the current issue of Salt Lake/Park City Bride & Groom magazine).

This cheese table featured crusty bread, chunks of cheese--including cheese from Uintah's Beehive Cheese Co. (the company's Barely Buzzed cheddar is a personal fave!)--and refreshing cherry lemonade served in mason jars.

For the reception table, Saxton chose a rustic farm table paired with chiavari chairs. She decorated the chair backs with gingham ribbon and white lace, and hung custom-designed "bride" and "groom" signs, along with a cow bell, on the back of the newlyweds' seats. A white lace runner, tall votives, blue glass vases and wooden boxes filled with vibrant red blooms ran along the length of the table.

Red place settings were topped with blue handkerchief napkins and custom menus. What's for dinner? Roasted beet and arugula salad with walnut-encrusted goat cheese, prime rib, and fork-smashed sweet potatoes with caramelized pecan crust. And for dessert? That's coming up next!

Following dinner, Saxton envisioned guests indulging in not one but two dessert tables. One table featured a traditional white cake and white cupcakes, the second table included a spread of classic cherry pie, cherry whoopie pies, cherry cake pops, and bowls of cherries. Yum!
