Royal Wedding Part Deux: Charlene Wittstock and Prince Albert II of Monaco Set to Wed this Weekend
If you, like me, are still feeling the warm afterglow of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's elegant nuptials, then you'll be thrilled to know there is another royal wedding in the works. And, like Will and Kate's regal affair, this wedding won't disappoint.
This weekend, on July 2, Charlene Wittstock will wed Prince Albert II of Monaco. She, a former Olympic swimmer from South Africa--and a commoner like Kate--and he, son of Prince Rainier of Monaco and Hollywood star Grace Kelly, will marry in the uber-wealthy Mediterranean principality of Monaco.
The two-day extravaganza is expected to draw thousands of visitors. Festivities include a concert for locals by rock band The Eagles, a light show by Jean-Michel Jarre, and a fireworks send-off. Oh, and the actual wedding, of course.
Fashion insiders speculate the bride-to-be will wear Giorgio Armani--a favorite designer--for her walk down the aisle. I am dying to see Charlene's choice of dress and how she styles her hair and makeup, not to mention the flowers, table settings, decor, food, guests, and all around pomp and circumstance surrounding the two-day event.
I came across these gorgeous photos of the bride-to-be snapped at the royal palace in the pages of HOLA! (my fave mag from Spain!). Though the gowns she is photographed in aren't wedding dresses, I have to wonder if she will choose a similar silhoutte or style as one of these beauties for her big day. (How fab would the black-and-white striped Ralph Lauren gown be for a bride? Swoon!)
And in case you haven't thought it already, allow me to point out that the bride-to-be shares a striking resemblance to her soon-to-be-hubby's late mother, Princess Grace... compare the image below with the images of Wittstock above--two beautiful blondes who met their prince, fell in love, and had (will have) fairy tale weddings.
Is anyone else as excited about this royal wedding as I am?!
