Oscar Fashion Inspiration for Brides and Bridesmaids
Did you tune in to the Oscars last night? I watched for three reasons: 1.) To see if some of my favorite flicks (Black Swan, Biutiful, Blue Valentine, 127 Hours) would take away top honors; 2.) To watch the dashing James Franco play host; 3.) To critique the red carpet fashion, of course.
Overall, I wasn't blown away by the dresses on this year's red carpet, but I did spy a few lovelies. As is often the case with award show wardrobes, many of the looks offered inspiration for bridal party fashions...
Halle Berry's crystal-encrusted Marchesa gown made me think of a trumpet gown from Vera Wang's Fall 2011 collection. The necklines are differnt, but the silhouettes are similar and both gowns feature a spattering of gorgeous crystals on the trumpet flare.
The bodice of Nicole Kidman's asian-inspired Christian Dior gown had a similar look to the bodice on a striking strapless Vera Wang gown, also from the designers Fall 2011 collection. I love the detail of the emrboidery and the hint of glint from the silver threading.
I was mesmerized by Gwyneth Paltrow's shimmery Calvin Klein gown, and equally mesmerized by this equally shimmery Jenny Packham sheath from the designer's Fall 2011 bridal collection. The sleeves and silhouettes are different, but the plunging necklines are quite similar and both floor-length numbers are bursting with pizzazz.
Mandy Moore donned a nude, crystal-encrusted Monique Lhuillier frock which looked nearly identical to a crystal-encrusted, illusion neckline wedding gown from Lhuillier's Fall 2011 bridal collection. Love!
The Oscar-winning Natalie Portman looked so happy and excited in her plum Rodarte gown. This long, a-line Jenny Yoo bridesmaid dress in raisin offers a similar look for your leading ladies.
And finally, didn't you think Jennifer Hudson's tangerine-hued Versace gown looked fantastic on her? Your bridesmaids can wear a similar style with this After Six full-length, v-neck dress in tangerine.
What do you think of these red carpet-inspired bridal party fashions? What were some of your favorite gowns from the Oscars?
