Lori Harris, owner of Mary Jane’s (613 Main St, 435-645-7463, maryjanesshoes.com), has seen it all over the past two decades since her shop has been open: the rise of UGGs; the fall of high heels; the designer denim craze; the growth of local, women-owned boutiques on Main Street; and her fair share of Sundance celebrity encounters (including, most memorably, Sylvester Stallone). Originally from St. Louis, Harris started her career working in tech in the Bay Area during the dot-com boom, but it was fashion that always held a special place in her heart. When the tech start-up she was working at sold, she decided to move to Park City and build a home. She and her significant other at the time had frequently visited for the Sundance Film Festival, and, like so many others, she fell head over heels for the ski-town vibe. Harris thought she might open a wine bar in town, but when a friend commented that what Park City really needed was a shoe store, she had an aha moment. Inspired by the name of classic children’s shoes, Mary Jane’s started as a pop-up until Harris found the perfect location on Main Street and opened in 2004—the boutique has been there ever since. Today, Mary Jane’s carries a mix of on-trend shoes and stylish women’s fashion, featuring popular brands like BC Footwear, Jeffrey Campbell, Sam Edelman, AG Jeans, Paige Denim, and more. What’s trending for the season ahead? Harris says sneakers, clogs, and all things ’70s-inspired. Groovy, baby.
