The Luzon 18L Daypack, made by the Salt Lake City–based Cotopaxi, had us at first sight: its cheery patchwork of repurposed, water-resistant nylon is both retro and modern at the same time, and because color combos are left up to the employees at the company’s production facility in the Philippines, no two packs sport the same color scheme. But beyond its good looks, this pack is light and comfortable to wear; includes a handy internal hydration bladder sleeve; and is just the right size for a jacket, lunch, hat, and other day-in-the-mountains essentials.
