We live in an era where eating local is akin to gospel. But shopping local? Not so much. With the dawn of online Goliaths like Amazon and Zappos, and as big-box stores and corporate retailers continue to open up shop in small towns across the country, including here in Park City, local store owners are feeling the pinch. But Blaire Isleib and Kristen Doyon, proud Parkites and co-owners of Flight Boutique, hope to change all that with the launch of their “PC Native” campaign. Taking a cue from their farm-to-table predecessors, they hope to start a boutique-to-closet revolution. Their rallying cry? Shop local. Shop small. Support women-owned businesses. And put your money where your zip code is.

“For so long, Park City has been able to maintain a special charm because of all the stores on Main Street that are one of a kind,” explains Isleib. “It just felt more and more like Park City was losing a bit of that charm and small-town vibe. We wanted to remind people that they can support locally grown and women-owned business in their own community. And we love to let visitors know that they can pick up something unique at all of these local boutiques—something they can remember they found in Park City.”

Flight and other participating stores are sporting new window decals that read “Shop Local,” and store owners are using the hashtags #PCNative and #womenowned on their social media channels to create awareness and cohesiveness. “Our own little tribe,” as Isleib puts it. The campaign is open to all, and she encourages other local businesses to hop on the bandwagon if they haven’t already.
