Becoming Astrid, Park City Film Screening at the Jim Santy Auditorium 

Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11-12 @ 8 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 13 @ 6 p.m.

Before she wrote the Pippi Longstocking series and many other beloved classics, Astrid Lindgren was just a teenager living in rural Sweden. Ready to break out of her conservative upbringing, she accepts an internship at a newspaper where she attracts the attention of the married editor. When Astrid becomes pregnant, she flees to Copenhagen to secretly give birth. Years after, she tries to reconnect with her son through her imagination and flair for storytelling. 

Canned Heat at the Egyptian Theatre

Liven up your evenings this weekend with rock anthems like "On The Road Again," "Let's Work Together," and "Going Up The Country" when Canned Heat takes the stage. The band, which formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, features a unique blend of modern electric blues, rock, and boogie that has influenced many aspiring guitarists and bands throughout the history of modern American music.

Music at Silver Lake Lodge with Mike Rogers

1-4 p.m.

Take a break from skiing at Deer Valley Resort's Silver Lake Lodge, where you can après with the piano stylings of jazz/classical pianist Mike Rogers. A veteran with thousands of shows under his belt, Rogers has toured all over the country and Europe with his Dueling Pianos Shows.

Bring the whole family out to enjoy snow sports and presentations at Wasatch Mountain State Park's Winter Festival on Saturday, January 12.

Saturday, January 12

Snowshoe Tour of the Preserve

10 a.m.

Delve into the local flora and fauna at the Swaner Preserve with a morning snowshoe hike. While on the preserve, your guide will help you search for animal tracks and other signs of animal life. It’s a great intro to snowshoeing for all ages.

Après Ski Chair Massage

2-5 p.m.

Work out the powder-induced kinks with a 15-minute neck and shoulder massage at the RockResorts Spa at The Grand Summit (Canyons Village). A massage therapist will be on hand to loosen up your muscles after a day on the slopes. These massages are first-come, first-serve, so arrive early!

Winter Festival at Wasatch Mountain State Park 

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Head over to Wasatch Mountain State Park for a day full of family-friendly winter fun. Try out fat tire biking, laser rifles, and avalanche beacons. Enter the opportunity drawing to win tons of cool prizes (including gear and a condo stay), and don't miss the special presentations: Avalanche Beacons (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.) and Arctic Rescue Dogs (11 a.m. - 12 p.m.). Call 435.654.1781 to reserve free snowshoes and XC skis.

Evening in Morocco Cooking Class at Mindful Cuisine

6-9 p.m.

Journey to warmer regions and partake in the magical flavors of Morocco. This hands-on cooking class will have you exploring classic and contemporary Moroccan dishes. The menu for the evening includes grilled flatbread with Za’atar, yogurt herb spread and piquillo almond spread; smashed green olives, citrus, avocado and hazelnut salad; lamb tagine with oranges, dates and olives with couscous; yogurt mousse with walnut nougatine & raspberries.

Re-center yourself for the week with a yoga session at The Paint Mixer with Fit 4 Life Park City founder Jess McCurdy. After the 60-minute flow, head over for some appetizers and locals wines at Old Town Cellars.
