5 Fun Events to Celebrate Bike Month in Park City

Park City celebrates Bike Month with a number of community events, including a Bike to Work/School Day and Bike Swaps.

If you have yet to tune up your bike for the season, now is the time because May is Park City's official Bike Month. In conjunction with the nationwide Bike Month, Park City leaders are hoping to inspire everyone to get on two wheels, whether it's because you want to be a little more environmentally friendly, avoid commuting traffic, or just ride for the fun of it. Check out these fantastic community events happening around town this May.
Young Riders Bike Swap
May 12 & 13 @ the Yard (1251 Kearns Blvd)
Want to trade your old wheels in for some new ones? Check out the Young Riders Bike Swap fundraiser on Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Yard Event Space. There you can peruse the selection of bikes while enjoying a frosty adult beverage. If you're interested in selling, you have until May 9 to bring your bike in to JANS or White Pine Touring. Bike Share Fare Free Day
May 15 & 16, greater Park City Area
Park City's e-bike share relaunched just in time to provide convenient and easy access to bikes to all. So if you want to get out and ride without breaking too much of a sweat, try out Bike Share Fare Free Day. This special promotion lets riders hop on an e-bike at any one of the nine bike share stations in Park City for a free ride of up to 45 minutes. Just visit the Summit Bike Share website to register with the code "bikemonth" or log on the Summit Bike Share app to redeem your free trip.
Bike to Work, School, and Play Day
May 18 @ Park City High School, citywide
See how easy it is to choose biking or driving on Bike to Work, School, and Play Day. Before you head to your final destination, spin by the event hub at Park City High School between 7:30 and 10 a.m. to get breakfast, a bike tune-up or wash, and learn about bike safety. Students who are biking to school should meet at PC MARC, Aspen Villas, Arches Park or PC Heights to ride together with a police escort. Helmet fittings, safety demonstrations, and a barbecue will be held at Parleys Park Elementary from 1 to 3 p.m. and McPolin Elementary from 11 a.m. to noon.
Cole Sport Bike Swap
May 19 & 20 @ Cole Sport
If you missed the first bike swap of the month or couldn't find the right ride for you, no need to fret. Cole Sport hosts a second bike swap on May 19 and 20, this time to benefit Mountain Trails Foundation. All ages and all types of bikes are welcome and available. The swap charges $20 for each bike sold.
Mountain Madness Open House
May 23 @ Double Tree Hilton Park City
Want to find out what trails Park City has to offer riders? Then come to Mountain Trails Foundation's Mountain Madness Open House at 5 p.m. on May 23 at the Double Tree Hilton. There will be a cash bar and plenty of chances to mix and mingle with local riders. Mountain Trails will give you the latest scoop info about their plans for the summer, updates on Bonanza Flat, and more.
