UPDATED February 22, 2018 -- Today Alterra Mountain Company announced three new partners, pricing, access, and benefits of its much-anticipated 2018-2019 winter season pass product, the Ikon Pass. The Ikon Pass will go on sale Tuesday, March 6, 2018 and will be available for purchase at ikonpass.com. Pricing for the Ikon Base pass starts at $899 for adults ($199 for for children age 12 and under); the Ikon Base Pass (with holiday blackouts) starts at $599.   

In addition to the 23 resorts already part of the Ikon Pass, Alterra also announced today SkiBig3 in Alberta, Canada, Revelstoke Mountain Resort in British Columbia, Canada and Sugarbush Resort in Vermont, as its newest partners for a total of over 63,000 skiable acres of unique terrain at 26 premier mountain destinations in North America.

The Ikon Pass offers unlimited access to 12 destinations plus 7-days and 7-days combined at 13 destinations, with zero blackout dates, and a starting price of $899.  Discounted Ikon Child Passes (12 and under) will be available through April 9, 2018 for $199 with the purchase of an Adult Ikon Pass.

“The Ikon Pass is an outstanding pass product for skiers and riders, and we’re excited for new guests to experience what we are all about at POWDR - the local, authentic mountain experience,” said Wade Martin, Chief Revenue Officer for the Park City-based POWDR.

A handful of Ikon pass resorts are currently part of other group passes, like the Mountain Collective and Rocky Mountain Super Pass; whether those resorts will maintain partnership with pass conglomerates other than Ikon is unclear at this time, as is if the Ikon pass will herald in snowboarding at Deer Valley or Alta. (Alta and Deer Valley are two of three resorts in the US that do not currently allow snowboarding.)

Reigning World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin of the U.S. Ski Team is onboard with Alterra Mountain Company as an investor and will serve as an Ambassador for the launch of the new Ikon Pass. “I grew up skiing on mountains big and small with my family, so when I’m in the mountains, I’m home. They each play an important role in my career and hold a special place in my heart,” said Mikaela Shiffrin. “I’ve spent more time training on snow at Ikon Pass destinations than anywhere else in the world, since first skiing the World Cup in 2010. It is a huge honor to be an owner in Alterra Mountain Company and to represent the Ikon Pass.” Shiffrin is the youngest woman in history to win a World Championship and the youngest athlete in history to win an Olympic slalom gold medal.
