Although not officially affiliated with the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, one of the main attractions during the fest's snowy opening weekend was the massive March on Main. Organized in solidarity with the hundreds of other Women's Marches around the world and in Washington D.C. the day after Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, the event drew 5,000 to 7,000 marchers from Park City, surrounding areas of Summit County, and out-of-state visitors attending the film festival. Women's rights, human rights, and and a spectrum of progressive issues were all cited as reasons for marching.

Swelled by support from the artists and film community, the March on Main was the largest protest in modern Park City history.
