The new Ballerina Farm Store in Midway opened to much fanfare last summer.

Ballerina Farm Store

101 W Main St, Ste 102

This past summer, Hannah and Daniel Neeleman opened the doors to their flagship market in the heart of Midway: the Ballerina Farm Store. Designed as a rustic, European-style grocer, the store is a natural next step for the couple and social media stars behind Ballerina Farm, a 328-acre working farm located in the nearby Kamas Valley.

While Ballerina Farm has long offered meat and pantry staples online, the Midway store gives customers a way to shop in person, ask questions, and gather. Inside, shelves are lined with kitchen utensils, freshly baked sourdough, handmade cheeses from their dairy, local greens, bags of Ballerina Farm flour and protein powder, and a curated selection of the couple’s favorite pantry staples sourced from around the world. There’s Vermont-pressed apple juice, Greek olive oil, Italian apple cider vinegar, and small-batch pasta from a family-run mill in Italy. Meanwhile, the store’s kitchen focuses on seasonal recipes inspired by the family’s time spent in Ireland, where the couple recently attended a 12-week chef program at the Ballymaloe Cookery School. Guests can stop by for a crisp salad or linger on the patio with a fresh-baked pastry.

The Midway market is Ballerina Farm’s second brick-and-mortar location—a smaller Ballerina Farm Stand opened in Kamas last spring—and it’s just another part of the couple’s larger agrotourism vision and desire to bring people closer to the source of their food. —MF

The Pizza Yard

The Pizza Yard & Dandelion Gelato

35 N Center Street

Matt and Jessica Reschke turned their passion for backyard pizza parties into a thriving local business when they opened The Pizza Yard in 2023. The couple converted a 120-year-old home into their cozy pizza shop, where they dish up a rotating roster of Neapolitan-style pies made with flour milled in Cache Valley and topped with seasonal, local ingredients. Continuing the Italian theme, the duo recently opened Dandelion Gelato, just around the corner on Main Street, offering creamy homemade gelato and dairy-free sorbetto for dessert. —TW

Café Galleria

101 W Main Street

Located on the town’s historic Main Street, Café Galleria is a locals’ favorite for rustic Italian fare, including homemade pastas and build-your-own wood-fired pizzas. Reserve one of the restaurant’s eight cozy Alpenglobes for a unique winter dining experience. —TW

The menu features classic hot and cold favorites such as a turkey club and po’boy, and sandwiches with a gourmet twist like the Dotty, stacked with salami, mortadella, provolone, potato chips, chili spread, aioli, mustard, and greens on ciabatta. There are vegetarian options, including a cauliflower Reuben, and a kids’ menu too. —TW

Olive Press Café

The Olive Press Café

152 W 100 N

Last fall, the Olive Press Café opened inside The Dainty Pear Co, a popular boutique offering home decor, kitchen goods, gourmet pantry items, artisanal olive oils, and vinegars. The menu features a spread of seasonally inspired pastries, coffees, and hot chocolates, as well as salads, soups, sandwiches, and toasts made with local Hawk & Sparrow sourdough. Warm up with a croque madame or Midway cheesesteak and a side of wild mushroom bisque. —TW
