You know the feeling: you’re standing in front of your closet, faced with a sea of clothes, and you have nothing to wear. Tack on Park City’s bipolar weather (snowstorms in June and September, anyone?), and the daily task of getting dressed can feel more akin to nightmare than necessity.

Enter Parkite Brynne Parry—blogger, style savant, and one half of the duo behind local boutique Hathenbruck. A real estate agent by day, at night Parry blogs about stylish, comfortable, and seasonally savvy outfits, as well as food and home décor, on her fashion and lifestyle blog, somethingofthelike.com. “My style is practical; I live in the snow most of the year, and often it’s freezing cold outside. You have to get creative with what you can wear,” says Parry, who was born in Park City but has also hung her beanie in neighboring Sun Valley, Idaho, and Boulder, Colorado.

On her blog, Parry blends the trendy with the traditional and shows readers how to make of-the-moment looks work for mountain life. “You can be inspired by LA fashion, but it needs to be made functional for Park City,” she says. She favors basics and classic silhouettes with modern twists and is all about comfort. Hence, the inspiration for a recent post: “Socially Acceptable Sweatpants.”

Parry says every Parkite should have a well-stocked closet of knits, boots, and coats to wear throughout the year. Below, she shares her style picks for summer and fall 2014.

Denim x Denim

“Double denim is big for summer.” Pair a chambray shirt with a Levi’s vest, or take it one step further and add a pair of blue jeans. To avoid the “Canadian tuxedo” effect, Parry suggests adding a cardigan for contrast and mixing light and dark washes.

Handkerchiefs

Part cowgirl, part Parisian: Parry suggests rolling up a colorful or printed handkerchief by Pendleton and tying it around your neck for a chic summer scarf.

Stripes

Parry’s go-to outfit for summer is a striped shirt, boyfriend jeans or shorts, and Birkenstock sandals (yup, they’re back). Don’t be afraid to mix horizontal and vertical stripes.
