In 2010, a couple of years after relocating to Park City from Ohio, Melissa Crotty opened a chic home decor boutique named Root’d. The popular store occupied two different locations on Main Street for a number of years, but as the interior design side of her business began to grow, Crotty closed the boutique and opened Crotty Collaborative Design Group (CCDG). This year, Crotty decided to return to where it all started: She rebranded CCDG and opened Root’d Design Studio in Newpark. “Releasing our new branding came with a new website, a new space, and a new vibe,” she explains. “It felt like the perfect opportunity to share something fresh with the community all at once.”
The shiny new design studio and retail showroom (open to the public) features favorite finds from Crotty and her team, including home accessories, custom furnishing options, and fine jewelry by Meredith Young and Heather B. Moore. “After stepping away from Main Street and into more of an office environment, we really missed the buzz of Park City and getting to interact with the community,” says Crotty. “It’s always so much fun when someone wanders in and finds something unexpected with us, whether it’s a great coffee table book or the design services they’ve been looking for.”
One of Crotty’s favorite elements of building the new space was collaborating with partners she’s developed relationships with over the years: Dry Creek Mill created custom cabinetry for the dry bar, Italia Granite supplied the unique countertops, and Marwall designed the plaster walls. “Just like our interior design approach, the space doesn’t carry a one-note style: it’s original, unexpected, and represents the team as a collective.”
