Word About Town

Three Things to Know This Winter in Park City

Where to eat, stay, and store your wine

Yes, Chefs

In September, five Park City chefs and two local distillers brought a taste of the Beehive State to the Big Apple. Chef Michael Showers and beverage manager Holly Booth of High West Distillery; master distiller Sara Sergent of Alpine Distilling; and chefs Seth Adams of Riverhorse on Main and Palomino, Clement Galas of Courchevel Bistro and Talisker Club, Matt Harris of Tupelo and Rime, and Zane Holmquist of Stein Eriksen Lodge were invited to cook and pour at Platform, the James Beard Foundation show kitchen, event space, and educational hub in New York City. If you didn’t make it to Manhattan to see these local culinary pros in action, worry not—Parkites can eat and drink at these award-winning establishments any night of the week.

Wine Time

Oenophiles, take note: Mountain Wine Storage, Utah’s first and only wine storage facility, recently opened in Heber City. Like a bank vault for your most prized bottles, the state-of-the-art, climate-controlled facility features rentable wine storage lockers for properly and securely housing personal wine collections, from 6 to 600 cases. The advanced facility maintains a temperature of 57 degrees with constant humidity control at 70 percent—optimal conditions for wine preservation.

Rooms with a View

The Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, Park City’s newest luxury hotel, welcomes its first guests this winter. The opening marks the debut of Deer Valley East Village—North America’s first luxury alpine village developed since 1981—and offers an exclusive first look at the resort’s expanded terrain. Guests will have easy access to 300-plus new skiable acres for the 2024–2025 ski season, as well as access to Jordanelle Reservoir and hundreds of miles of hiking and biking paths.

The stunning hotel features 400 mountain-chic accommodations, including suites, guest rooms, and sold-out residences (100 discounted rooms are reserved nightly for US service members). Dining and beverage options abound, from Remington Hall, the hotel’s signature restaurant serving rustic American fare, to Double Blacks, an on-site coffee shop fueled by Park City Coffee Roasters. Amenities include a heated outdoor pool and three oversize hot tubs with panoramic mountain views, nearly 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, a Camp Hyatt Kids Club, and a special menu and dog run for pups up to 75 pounds.
