Urban Delights

A beloved Park City restaurant group expands its horizon.

If you’re a local or traveling foodie, you’ve likely dined at Hearth & Hill (1153 Center Dr, 435-200-8840; hearth-hill.com), which opened in 2018 and quickly became a favorite gathering spot thanks to the restaurant’s cool but casual setting and comforting but contemporary menu—think cheddar biscuits, truffle mac and cheese, steak frites, and spicy Korean fried chicken. Last year, proprietor and Parkite Brooks Kirchheimer built on that success by opening the neighboring Hill’s Kitchen (1153 Center Dr, Ste G160, 435-800-2870; hills-kitchen.com), a cafe and catering concept offering coffee, smoothies, breakfast bites, sandwiches, and scrumptious, fresh-baked pastries. But Kirchheimer had his sights set beyond Park City, and he proved the third time really is a charm by opening Urban Hill in downtown Salt Lake City’s emerging Post District (510 S 300 W, 385-295-4200; urban-hill.com). Though it’s the baby of the bunch, Urban Hill has big sister energy—she’s a little more polished, her taste is elevated, and her manners are impeccable. The new space is modern and refined but still warm and inviting, much like the menu, which features fine-dining classics including shrimp cocktail, oysters, Caesar salad, and a stellar Creekstone Farms filet, as well as unique dishes like chorizo croquetas and beef tallow potato pavé (both are excellent). Start with an order of heavenly skillet rolls and end with the banana cream pie—you could ask for multiple forks, but you’ll want to devour it all yourself. After all, the restaurant group is named Leave Room For Dessert Eateries for good reason.
