There's no Main Street spectacle quite as grand as the Park City Area Restaurant Association's (PCARA) annual Savor the Summit. After all, it's a massive al fresco dinner party featuring more than 20 of Park City's most prominent restaurants all setting up shop outdoors. More than 2,500 people are drawn to the event of the summer to admire (and eat at!) the long tables set up in the middle of the street. “Savor the Summit is the epitome of what makes Park City so special,” said PCARA executive director Ginger Ries. “The event gives locals and visitors the chance to enjoy the incredible talent coming out of our kitchens amongst great company and a breathtaking summer backdrop.”
Here are five things we love about Savor the Summit and why you should definitely put this year's dinner--set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 16--on your summer list of can't miss events in Park City.
Dine in the great outdoors
Nothing says summer quite like dining in the outdoors and you can't ask for a better patio than this. The weather in Park City during the warmer months is pretty unbeatable. Enjoy the fine dining sans humidity, insects, and comfortably warm temperatures. Just bring along a light sweater or jacket to cover up when the sun goes.
Snap that perfect Instagram shot
You'd be hard-pressed to find an aspect of Savor the Summit isn't worthy of a photo, from the overall setting to the tiniest details. The restaurants pull out all the stops with flowers bursting in color, glimmering wine glasses, and unique center pieces or even a temporary cantina to represent their individual styles. And then there's the perfectly plated food and cocktails.
Indulge in a delightfully crafted dinner
Each restaurant offers something different to showcase their chefs' talents and prices vary depending on the dining menu, wine, and beverage pairings being offered. Grab a seat at the table at Riverhorse, Handle, Shabu, Wasatch Brew Pub, and more (full line-up of restaurants here). Pro tip: This is very popular event with plenty of regulars so book early. If not, you risk your restaurant of choice filling up.
Sip on a summer aperitif at High West Spirits Garden
If you don't snag a reservation for dinner, you can still show up and enjoy the atmosphere. Sip on locally-sourced spirits and crowd favorite cocktails with friends and family at the High West Distillery's High West Spirit Gardens at the junction of Heber Avenue and Main Street.
Shake your groove thing to live tunes
While some restaurants have been known to offer musical ambience, the main stage is found at the High West Spirits Garden where a full line-up of music acts are booked for the evening. On the schedule this year are Joshy Soul & The Cool playing from 6 - 7:30 p.m. and The Number Ones from 8 - 10 p.m.
