Nothing goes together quite like a hot summer day and a refreshingly cool, flavorful spoonful of ice cream. And locals in the know will surely tell you, you'd be hard-pressed to find a smoother, creamier, or more tantalizing ice cream than the one made by local ice cream maker extraordinaire Kris Tart of Wasatch Creamery. This summer, Tart is adding a very special ice cream variety to Wasatch Creamery's already impressive range of flavors (roughly 46 depending on ingredient availability from local farmer's markets): an ice cream for dogs.
Yes, in true Park City fashion, Wasatch Creamery is thinking about all our precious pups who will also be in dire need of an ice cold refresher during the warm season. The recipe is simple and healthy summer treat made from organic yogurt, chicken stock, and bacon. Gustavo, Tart's three-year-old border collie, who came into her life around the same time Wasatch Creamery came into existence, was one of her biggest inspirations to come up with the flavor.
As of yet, this dog ice cream does not have a name and this is where you come in. You can win a summer's worth of Wasatch Creamery ice cream for you and your favorite pooch (13 human pints and 13 dog servings) by helping Tart come up with the perfect name for ice cream.** From April 1 - May 1, 2018, Wasatch Creamery is running a contest to find a name, preferably three words long (with a maximum of four), to christen the flavor with.
You can enter the contest by completing the entry form here.
**The winner can pick up all their ice cream at once or throughout the summer, or any combination thereof. Flavors are based on availability - the winner is requested to provide at least a 24-hr heads up so Wasatch Creamery can ensure nothing but happiness and 100 percent satisfaction upon pickup! Winner may also pick up said pints any Wednesday at the Park City Farmers Market (runs June 6 - August 29), in it's new/old location at the Silver King Hotel parking lot at Park City Mountain Resort's Town Base.
