You're Invited to Wasatch Brewery's 30th Anniversary Party
Contrary to what many outside of Utah might think, beer and spirits have always been an essential part of life in Park City. During the boom years of the mining industry, Main Street was packed with more than twenty saloons, catering to all the predilections of the miners. It wasn't till 1986, however, that Utah opened its first microbrewery when Greg Schirf launched the Wasatch Brewpub at the top of Main Street. Since then, they've collected awards, including 17 World Beer Cup Awards, and expanded operations to five brewpubs and a wine and ale house. "It's quite the accomplishment for any business to make it 30 years," says Judy Cullen, director of marketing for Wasatch Beers. "But especially in a resort town like Park City and we're still going strong, still pushing the envelope a bit. It’s a very important anniversary for us, for sure.”
To commemorate their 30th year of drinking and selling beer, Wasatch Brewpub is throwing a private party this Saturday, October 22nd. But this will be no ordinary celebration. While brainstorming ideas for the anniversary, Wasatch teamed up with the service-driven Sunrise Rotary in their attempt at beating out Breckenridge, Colorado for the world's longest shot ski. So while the festivities won't begin until 3 p.m. at the Wasatch Brewpub Main Street location, revelers are encouraged to show up at noon for the shot ski event and beer garden. Here's a rundown of the day's activities and how you can enjoy the biggest block party of the season.
Shot Ski + Beer Garden on Main Street
Throw on your favorite costume or festive attire and head over to Main Street at noon. Check-in to participate in the shot ski attempt is noon to 1:30 p.m., and you must purchase a ticket in advance and have ID in hand to be admitted into the area (it is a 21 and over event). Rain or shine, the event will go on, but we are currently sitting pretty with a forecast for sunny skies and temps in the upper 60s.
The Beer Garden is open from noon until 6 p.m., giving everyone the opportunity to knock back a cold Wasatch Brew ($3) or two both before and after the shot ski. Hang out with friends, drink, and get your groove on with live music the whole day.
By 1:30 p.m., you should have picked your spot along the shot ski. Depending on how many people are in your group, you'll want to get their early to make sure you can all stand together. At 2 p.m., Wasatch founder Greg Schirf will start the countdown with an air horn call. After everyone has taken their shot, the celebration will continues in the Beer Garden and in the parking lot next to the brewpub. Enjoy more craft beers, games, and lively music from the Utah County Swillers.
Private Party at Wasatch Brewpub
If you're one of the lucky few who has received an invite to the special VIP party you can head inside the Wasatch Brewpub. From the 2nd level mezzanine you'll be able to drink brewskis with friends, eat some great pub food, and enjoy the perfect bird's eye view of the shot ski after party on the streets. Don't forget to RSVP to your invite.
We'll see you all there! Cheers!
