When temperatures dip below freezing and the snow begins to stack up, nothing is quite as comforting as a warm winter cocktail. Lucky for us, Park City bars and restaurants are awash in cold-weather libations.
The hot-drink menu at Park City Mountain Resort’s Legends Bar & Grill (1315 Lowell Ave, 435.658.5812) is long—Irish and Mexican coffee, hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps, and hot toddies, to name a few—but for a libation that’s both warming and decadent, order the Hot Apple Pie, made with High West whiskey, apple cider, real whipped cream, and a cinnamon stick.
At Sushi Blue in Redstone Center (1571 W Redstone Center Dr, 435.575.4272), we recommend one of the hot sake potions, like the Purple Haze. It’s warm Gekkeikan sake blended with Chambord black raspberry liqueur. And while you’re in the vicinity, drop into Red Rock Brewery (1640 W Redstone Center Dr, 435.575.0295) for a Godiva Chocolate Avalanche, a decadent brew of brandy, Bacardi Select dark rum, coffee, whipped cream, and, of course, Godiva chocolate liqueur—dessert in a glass.
Over at Deer Valley, cozy up to the big-screen TV and a Cinnamon Toast at the EBS Lounge (Snow Park Lodge, 2250 Deer Valley Dr South, 435.649.1000). This classic hot mug full of dented Brick, "Antelope Island" Rum, Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey, Slide Ridge apple cider, and cinnamon sugar rim is just what the doctor ordered after a day on the slopes. A little farther up the mountain at the venerable Stein Eriksen Lodge (7700 Stein Way, 435.649.3700) the Black Manhattan is a choice fit for the ruggedly elegant setting. Says executive chef Zane Holmquist, “Woodford Reserve bourbon with the addition of Patron XO, Fernet-Branca, and house-made orange bitter foam makes this a perfect martini to sip by the fire.”
