IBSF Bobsled & Skeleton North America's Cup and IBSF Youth Olympic Qualifier

Saturday–Wednesday @ Utah Olympic Park

Witness the world’s top youth bobsled and skeleton athletes and top North America’s Cup teams compete on the 2002 sliding track at the Utah Olympic Park. Free. utaholympiclegacy.org 

The Park Silly Sunday Market folks deliver a holiday-themed bazaar this weekend, which is chock full of locally made goods. 

The Silly Holiday Bazaar

Friday 5–9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.@ Sheraton Park City

A one-stop-shop for everyone on your list, The Silly Holiday Bazaar is a festive, indoor market, presented by the Park Silly Sunday Market folks. Park City Film Series: Fantastic Fungi

Immerse yourself in the fascinating, magical world beneath your feet. Fantastic Fungi journeys underground to explore the enigmatic network that could heal and save our planet. Park City Museum

Explore Park City’s rich mining history through interactive and educational exhibits that take you into a mine shaft and old-time jail. Children can complete a “Park City History Detectives” activity, digging deeper into the past. parkcityhistory.org

The Robot Zoo

Wednesday through Friday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10–4 @ Swaner Nature Preserve

Explore the biomechanics of complex animal robots to discover how real animals work. Little engineers will delight in interactive, hands-on exhibits, such as how chameleons change color and a fly walks on the ceiling. Holidays with Santa & Dinner

Fridays and Saturdays in December leading up to Christmas @ The DeJoria Center, Kamas

Celebrate the season with family-friendly happenings and eats, including pictures with Santa, dinner in the State Road Restaurant, sugar cookie decorating, and letters to Santa (with Santa’s helpers). Park City Film: Moonlight Sonata

Veteran Director Taylor Brodsky (Hear and Now) creates a moving portrait of deafness, music, raising children, and caring for aging parents. As 11-year-old Jonas (Brodsky’s son, who underwent cochlear-implant surgery as a toddler) learns to play Beethoven’s "Moonlight Sonata," Brodsky’s parents, who also have cochlear implants, explore what silence means. Deer Valley Resort Opens (and hosts Shred for Red)

The 2019-2020 season opens at DV, deervalley.com, as the resort hosts the second annual Shred For Red, lls.org/shredforred, a fundraiser dedicated to eradicating blood cancers. Shred for Red participants (who raise more than $300 for the cause) dive into fun, on-mountain and off-slopes challenges as well as skiing, hobnobbing with Olympians, and toasting the fundraiser’s success with an après-ski celebration.

Saturday Morning Snowshoe Tour

8:30–10 a.m. @ Swaner EcoCenter

The Swaner Preserve wetlands are magical this time of year. Explore with a guide, discovering what kinds of plants and animals you might find during the winter. Lucky hikers may see an abundance of birds, elk, or even nesting sandhill cranes! Come prepared for the elements with winter boots, snow pants, hats, gloves, coat, and water bottle. Snowshoes can be rented from the EcoCenter ($2.50 for members, $5 for non-members). Tours are $10 per person, $5 locals, and free for Swaner members. swanerecocenter.org

Christmas Bird Book Signing

10 a.m.–11 a.m. @ The Christian Center Park City

Enjoy hot cocoa by the fire and a reading of The Christmas Bird. Proceeds support Operation Hope. Please consider bringing a toy donation to the reading as well. ccofpc.org

Santa Visits the Fieldhouse

Kick off the holidays with arts and crafts, bounce houses, face painting, cookie decorating, and pictures with Santa. $5 or a toy donation. basinrecreation.org

Park City Books 2 Movies: A Dog’s Way Home

Witness Bella's (a dog's) amazing, 400-mile journey to reunite with her beloved owner, and the lives she touches along the way. Free. parkcityfilm.org

Put on your beard and furry hat, or dress in your favorite holiday-themed costume, joining throngs of jolly folk spreading cheer between Butcher’s Chop House, Downstairs, No Name, The Spur and Flanagan’s. 'Repeal Day' Party

7 p.m. at High West Saloon

Don that flapper outfit or gangster attire and make tracks for the local saloon as High West revels in Utah's deciding vote that ended Prohibition in 1933. The 10th annual event includes live entertainment, food, cash bar, and access to High West's newest whiskey. Attendees much be 21 or older; tickets $40. highwest.com
