Explore Park City’s rich mining history through interactive and educational exhibits that take you into a mine shaft and old-time jail. Children can complete a “Park City History Detectives” activity, digging deeper into the past.

The Robot Zoo

Wednesday through Friday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10–4 @ Swaner Nature Preserve

Explore the biomechanics of complex animal robots to discover how real animals work. Little engineers will delight in interactive, hands-on exhibits, such as how chameleons change color and a fly walks on the ceiling. Through January 5th. $6 non-members; children 3 and under free.

It’s Worth a Dam? Beaver Dam Analogs and the Swaner Preserve

6:30-8 p.m. @ Swaner Nature Preserve

Learn all about Beaver Dam Analogs (BDA's), why Swaner is installing them, and what they are doing for the local ecosystem. Join Marshall Wolf, Ecology PhD candidate at USU, for an inside look into his research on understanding beaver mediated changes to stream habitat and ecosystem services on the Swaner Preserve. This event is free, but space is limited, and registration is required.

Utah filmmakers have their moment in the spotlight this Thursday at The Jim Santy.

14th Annual Filmmakers Showcase

7 p.m. @ Park City Library

The 14th Annual Filmmakers Showcase presents an evening of short films and excerpts from artists around Utah. Park City Film and local filmmaker and Showcase founder Jill Orschel will host a reception for artists and attendees following the screening.

Opening Day at Park City Mountain

Festivities begin at 8 a.m.; Pay Day first chair at 9 a.m. @ Park City base

Saturday Morning Nature Walk

8:30–10 a.m. @ Swaner EcoCenter

Discover the Swaner Preserve with a guided nature tour, navigating the wetlands while learning about the diverse plant and animal species found in its grasses and waters. Keep your eyes peeled for an abundance of birds, elk, and perhaps a nesting sandhill crane. $10 per person, $5 locals, free for Swaner members.
