Here's your monthly round-up of movies in Park City for August. Keep a lookout this fall when the Park City Film Series returns to their regular screening schedule as we'll be having several giveaways for free tickets to their shows.
Park City Film Series
During August, Park City Film Series is continuing their "Throwback Thursday Series," where you can catch classic films at the Park City Library at 7 p.m. on every Thursday throughout the month. They're also offering a special "Drive-In Movie" in collaboration with Park City SUP and Reel Community Series film Bending the Arc.
Aug 3 - Throwback Thursday - Ghostbusters
After being downsized from the University's parapsychology department, three doctors go into business chasing down ghosts and all manner of unfriendly apparitions, calling themselves 'ghostbusters'. But the paratroopers of the paranormal face their greatest challenge when they find out a building could resurrect the ancient Hittite god, Gozer, and bring an end to all of humanity. Starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis, this is a hilarious classic you don't want to miss. See the trailer here.
Aug 10 - Throwback Thursday - Wayne's World
Come watch the comedic gold that is Wayne's World, the film about a guy called Wayne living in his parent's basement producing their own public TV access show. When a location station decides to hire him and his sidekick Garth to do their show professionally hilarity ensues.

Aug 11 - From The Ashes
The future of coal has been a hot topic since the Trump took office. This documentary takes a deeper look, offering compelling stories from Appalachia to the West’s Powder River Basin, letting individuals speak to the what's at stake for our economy, health, and climate. Check out the trailer here.
A film panel discussion will follow the screening; presented in partnership with Sierra Club's Wasatch Back Chapter and Beyond Coal Campaign.
Aug 12 - Proximity
Drive, bike or walk on over to Lot K in Prospector Square for Park City's only "drive-in movie" experience for a presentation of Proximity. The film, directed by award-winning filmmaker Taylor Steele and produced by Teton Gravity Research paris today's most progressive young surfers with living legends to explore the relationships of people, time, and place. Lawn spots available in front of the screen for bike/walk-ups (low backed chairs only, sorry no dogs). Height restrictions apply to car rows. Space is limited, so get your tickets early!
Aug 17 - Throwback Thursday - Young Frankenstein
From Mel Brooks, Young Frankenstein tells the story of how the grandson of the famous Dr. Victor von Frankenstein comes to inherit his grandfather's old estate in Transylvania. Although he first thinks his grandfather's work is trash, he has a change of heart when he discovers the reanimation experiment and tries to recreate it.

Aug 19 - Bending The Arc
As the healthcare battle in Congress continues to rage on, the documentary Bending The Arc delves into the pioneering work of a group of heroes who strove to bring high quality healthcare available to everyone, even in the world’s poorest countries with the premise that healthcare must be a basic human right everywhere. Through interviews, rare archival footage, and contemporary footage, the film is a emotionally charged, dramatic and inspiring journey. A TBA panel discussion will follow the film. Presented in partnership with The People's Health Clinic.
Aug 23 - Throwback Thursday - The Three Amigos
Don't miss out on the shenanigans of Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, and Martin Short in The Three Amigos. They play three out of work silent movie actors are accidentally drawn to a Mexican village that is being harassed by a gang of outlaws.
