Brushstrokes aren’t reserved for paintings anymore. The canvas is a wedding cake, and the paint: delicious white chocolate. Mandy Merriman, baker, blogger, and owner of Baking with Blondie, created this masterpiece covered in fondant and three-dimensional brushstroke pieces—with decadent chocolate cake and coconut buttercream filling inside. Merriman delicately placed each edible brushstroke one by one to achieve a modern, unique look. The final product—a “touch of simple elegance and beautifully soft flavors,” Merriman says.

While still maintaining a graceful feel, the collection of textures—white chocolate drips, shards, ruffle florets, round pearls, candy pieces, white pirouette cookies, and white rock candy crystals—push the envelope, fitting for a couple who wants to make a statement. “I love the free expression and interesting variety of textures used. It’s an extraordinary showstopper, allowing guests to enjoy and delight in this elegant celebration work of sugar art,” says Carrie Biggers-Burnett, designer of the cake and owner of Carrie’s Cakes.


Bring the beauty of the Utah mountains to your wedding cake. Designed to showcase the surroundings of Deer Valley, Bobbye Sandman, pastry chef at Deer Valley Bakery, hand-carved mountains on the bottom tier and created gum-paste flowers to mimic our local mountain wildflowers. Stephen Harty, executive pastry chef at Deer Valley Bakery, tells us his cake is for the bride who wants to mix “fun with elegance and has a special place for the mountains in her life.” This sophisticated outdoorsy cake is covered with Italian meringue buttercream and made with local butter.


She’s famously known for her award-winning cupcakes, but her wedding cakes are equally spectacular. Megan Faulkner Brown of Sweet Tooth Fairy designed this signature cake with uniform horizontal lines made of creamy buttercream frosting and finished it off with White Cloud garden roses cascading from each tier—perfect for a traditional wedding with a dash of enchantment.
