Not since the era of Jane Austen has ribbon been so popular. Thanks in part to fine purveyors like Froufrou Chic and Silk & Willow, luxurious ribbons are all the rage for today's modern-romantic weddings, whether used to adorn a bouquet or accent an invitation suite. And now you can get your spools closer to home thanks to the beautiful new ribbon collection recently launched by Rachael Ellen Events. The naturally dyed raw silk and chiffon ribbons are all inspired by floral color palettes, creating the perfect companion to a cluster of fresh-cut blooms.

We chatted with Rachael Affleck, the creative mind behind Rachael Ellen Events, and asked her to unravel the details of her ribbon collection. Read our Q&A below, and see more of Rachael's ribbons in the pages of our new issue, hitting newsstands in July!

SLPCBG: What inspired your new ribbon collection? 

RA: My inspiration behind the ribbons is simply put: nature. All of the colors are based on floral collections. For example, my garden rose collection features shades and tones found within garden roses. Because they are inspired by actual flowers, they complement the actual arrangements, bouquets, and wedding details so nicely. All of my ribbons are hand dyed with 100% natural plant dyes creating a really organic feel and colors unique to each batch. The silk and chiffons add an element of luxury to any invitation suite, bouquet, flower girl dress, etc.

What size ribbons are available? 

Right now we have 2.5 inches (perfect for bouquets) and .5 inches (perfect for bouts). We will be adding more sizes to the shop in the coming weeks, and we are always happy to create custom sizes/orders as well.

You also offer styling boards on your online shop—tell us about the inspiration behind these? 

The styling boards were created out of a personal need that I was finding as a florist and stylist. Having a solid color background really takes simple detail shots to the next level and allows the beauty of the details to shine through. Because I was so often using them or creating them for shoots and weddings, I wanted to offer them as the start of our styling line. We will be continually adding items to take details and styling images to the next level. Coming soon will be ring boxes and antique floral shears! It's all about the little things!

We love your chic packaging—tell us about the inspiration behind your branding? 

My branding was inspired by modern romanticism. My brand is strong and modern but also very feminine and romantic. So Nikkol Christiansen of Refine Studio helped me to achieve the two looks. We found ways to make blush, taupe, gold, and green feel very fashion forward, while sticking true to my target clients and brides. All of my packaging follows the same model. Nikkol really helped me hone in on my personal style and the direction I wanted to head with this shop.
