Drink Me: Seasonal Cocktails from Sugar House Libations
Whether you're looking for a new drink to serve during your wedding cocktail hour or your own personal cocktail hour (it's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?), we have two seasonal sips for you made with Sugar House Libations's handcrafted fruit- and herb-infused simple syrups.
We asked Megan Pales, who co-owns Salt Lake's Sugar House Libations with her hubby, Bobby Taylor (check out their sweet downtown SLC engagement shoot featured on our blog), to share a couple of her favorite SHL cocktail recipes for local celebrations.
Read the recipes below, and pick up a bottle (or two) of Sugar House Libations at the Winter Farmers Market at the Rio Grand Depot this Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cheers!
Sugar House Libations Hot Toddy
Megan's take on the classic Hot Toddy landed in the pages of our current issue's "Life of the Party" editorial—the cozy drink is the perfect warm-me-up for winter weddings. But in case you missed it in the mag, here are the deets.
1 1/2 oz bourbon or Vida Tequila Reposado
1 oz Sugar House Libations green apple-cinnamon or pear-ginger syrup
4-6 oz hot water
juice from 1/4 lemon
1 cinnamon stick
Combine all ingredients into a warmed mug, stir with cinnamon stick, and sip away.
Sugar House Libations Iced Tea
Megan also shared this fruity iced tea recipe that makes a refreshing sip for spring and summer shindigs.
1 1/2 oz brandy
3/4 oz Sugar House Libations pear-ginger syrup
4 oz fresh brewed black tea (iced)
twist of an orange peel
Combine first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Stir and strain into a coupe glass. Twist orange peel over the glass to release oils, and then add to rim as a garnish.
