On the Menu: Donuts
Did you know today is National Donut Day? In honor of the delicious "holiday," we're sharing some of our favorite donut ideas for weddings. From cake alternatives to late-night reception snacks to yummy favors, the fried, sweet treats are sure to delight your guests!
Not a big fan of traditional wedding cake? Consider a donut wedding cake instead. Hey, if cupcakes and pies can take center stage at a dessert table, so can donuts!
Serve donuts with milk and coffee as a late-night reception snack. The sugar + caffeine combo will give your guests a jolt and keep them dancing till dawn! Or, gift guests with fresh-baked donut favors to take home and enjoy in the morning (or devour on the car ride home). An idea we love: wrap the donuts in cute packaging and pair with a small bag of SLC's Charming Beard Coffee. Post-wedding breakfast is served!
And, on a side note, have you heard of the cronut? It's a croissant + donut hybrid dreamed up by Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City (see photo below). Croissants and donuts all fried into one? We've died and gone to pastry heaven. We can't wait until cronuts make their way to SLC!
For local donut sources, check out Banbury Cross and Beyond Glazed, and chat with your caterer about their donut options. For example, Cuisine Unlimited can whip up mini donuts on the spot with their portable fryer.
Have a happy National Donut Day! We'll be celebrating by digging in to a plate of Eva's cinnamon-sugar donut holes this evening. Yum!
