Beat the heat with watery adventures
With June temperatures reaching the mid 80s, July is coming in scorching hot. Have no fears, you can cool off with a number of water activities that suit any thrill level. Chill out with a swim at Jordanelle State Park, get some tubes and float down the Provo, or go for a kayak or raft trip down the Weber with a local river guide. This year, Utah Olympic Park is bringing in a special edition of their popular Slip n’ Soar event the evening of the 4th for thrill seekers 18 years and older.
Main Street Parade
Start your day off in Old Town by watching or participating in the annual July 4th Fun Run that benefits the Park City Ski Team. From there grab a pancake breakfast at the City Park before finding the perfect spot to watch the annual 4th of July Parade down Main Street. The area will also have kids’ activities, rugby and volleyball tournaments, and live music. Close out the day with fireworks after sunset at Park City Mountain.
Pop in for fun at the resorts
Fireworks aren’t the only activities that happen at the ski resorts on the 4th of July. Summer activities and lifts are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Park City Resort. Park City offers bike haul and scenic lift rides daily as well as their concert series. Deer Valley also provides bike haul service in addition to horseback riding, standup paddleboard classes, and fly fishing. Of course, both resorts offer free hiking and mountain biking to all.
Remember, there is a fire/fireworks ban in place so catch the show at the resorts. Have a safe and fun holiday Park City!
