At Emigration Design, Clients and Designer Are a Team.

Sabrina Haller’s experience in designing her own home led her to start her interior design business – Emigration Design, where she specializes in residential remodels, builds and furnishings. Working in both Salt Lake and Park City, she aims to reinvent the idea of interior design by prioritizing teamwork, organization and transparent communication for every project.

In 2017, Sabrina and her husband began the adventure of designing and building their dream home in Emigration Canyon, near Salt Lake City. “After three years filled with countless, hard decisions, we developed a new respect for the design profession,” she shares. “Designing our family’s home became my job, and I loved every minute of it.”

Sabrina soon began working for a local design firm where she learned more about the industry, and eventually began leading projects. In 2023, she launched Emigration Design.

My clients and I are a team
“My clients and I are a team, and I involve them in design process,” she says. “The notion of hiring an interior designer can feel intimidating, but I strongly believe that it should be an enjoyable and approachable experience. Having been the client myself, I genuinely understand the stress involved, the importance of budget management, and the need for organized and clear communication” Sabrina says.

Sabrina also says that “Everyone deserves great design,” which is why she offers three service models, allowing clients to choose the level of partnership they are most comfortable with.

The Full Service Design model takes charge of the many details and demands involved in a project, such as ordering, scheduling, correspondence with contractors and vendors, deliveries, troubleshooting and more. This offering is ideal for people who are taking on a large project – such as a renovation – or are simply looking for the full service experience.

The Self-Service Design model provides clients with a tailored design plan they can execute at their own pace. It’s perfect for clients who are managing smaller updates to their home, but need expert help with space planning and selections.

Consulting is an hourly service ideal for clients who have an eye for design, but need guidance on decisions such as color selection, countertops or furnishings. “The options can be overwhelming, so I often do education sessions on the pros and cons of materials, equipping the client with the knowledge to make their own informed design decisions” she states.

Helping clients focus their goals
“Establishing the scope and budget is one of the hardest parts of the design process. Most people don’t know what their budget should be” Sabrina says. She adds that, while she cannot predict construction costs, she can help clients focus their goals by starting budgetary discussions early. She also offers flat rate pricing, so her clients understand the cost of design services at the onset of the project. “There shouldn’t be any surprises” she adds.

Prioritizing Purpose
Sabrina firmly believes that homes are meant to be lived in. “It’s not just about making a space visually appealing; it’s also about purpose and function.

  • What do you want the space to accomplish?
  • What materials are best suited for your budget and lifestyle?
  • What are the storage needs?
  • Do you have kids or pets?

These types of questions are the most important when designing a space.  If your home doesn’t function well, it really doesn’t matter how beautiful it is.”

“I appreciate when clients share ideas, research products and ask questions,” she says. “It takes a team to bring a design vision to life and the client is the most critical part of the team.”
