Adios emerald! There's a hot new hue in town: Say hello to Radiant Orchid. The color pros at Pantone recently selected the "captivating, magical, enigmatic purple" as their Color of the Year 2014.

"An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love, and health," says Leatrice Eisman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, describing the new color du year. "It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm."

Good news for brides and grooms: According to the peeps at Pantone, Radiant Orchid's rosy undertones radiate on the skin and produce a healthy glow on both men and women---we're predicting a slew of purple gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and groom's and groomsmen's ties in the very near future. And, the alluring color pairs well with a variety of other hues, from olive and deep hunter green (great for fall and winter celebrations) to turquoise, teal, and light yellow (hello, spring and summer soirees!).

Welcome to the world of weddings, Radiant Orchid. Bring on the elegant orchid bouquets and lavender-spiked reception menus!
