Tucked in to the corner of Heber Avenue and Main Street in Park City, stands The Sky Lodge. Since swinging open its doors in 2007, the boutique luxury property has become a popular hotel for powder hounds, Sundance goers, and destination wedding parties.

We've visited the posh property a number of times over the years, but it had been awhile since we stepped foot inside the well-appointed lobby and had a look around. So, we recently took a field trip to the Sky Lodge with our editorial partners in crime at Park City Magazine and got the scoop on the hotel's latest and greatest for nuptials and special events.

More modern than mountain, the hotel features a bold, eclectic design scheme. With only 33 rooms, the all-suite hotel has an intimate feel. Accommodations include full kitchens, fireplaces, private hot tubs on radiant-heated outdoor decks, and expansive views of historic Main Street and Park City Mountain Resort.

Perched at the base of Lower Main Street, restaurants, shops, galleries, and bars are just a hop, skip, and a jump away—ideal for out-of-town wedding guests who want to explore the town on foot. Planning to hit the slopes with your wedding party? PCMR is located just one block from the Sky Lodge, while Deer Valley Resort and Canyons Resort are a 5-10 minute bus or car ride.

The private event area at the Sky Lodge is unique in that it's neither a ballroom room nor a conference room. In fact, the swanky rooftop space—complete with a large outdoor terrace—formerly housed the Sky Blue bar, a hot spot among hotel guests and locals.

The space is now reserved solely for weddings and special events—it offers a chill, lounge-like atmosphere and killer views of Main Street, and can accommodate up to 120 guests. Table One restaurant at the Sky Lodge

Adjacent to the Sky Lodge in the historic Utah Coal & Lumber building, is the hotel's Table One restaurant. The renovated space is just as refined as the food: The stylish dining room features an open kitchen where Chef Christian Ojeda—a Provo native who honed his chops working at resort properties including the Calistoga Ranch—serves up modern American-style cuisine.

During our recent visit we dined on a palate-pleasing three-course menu at the Chef's table. The meal began with a thyme-roasted organic beet salad with a Humboldt Fog goat cheese cloud, endive, mushroom soil, and champagne vinaigrette (don't knock mushroom soil until you've tried it—who knew "dirt" could be so delicious?).

The second course featured an herb-basted Niman Ranch beef tenderloin with a silky carrot puree (totally creamy and totally vegan), wilted mustard greens, golden potato confetti, and a coffee bordelaise made with SLC-based Charming Beard Coffee. Chef Ojeda reaches for locally sourced goods whenever possible, and counts Charming Beard among his favorite Utah finds.

For dessert, a chocolate melting sphere was a treat for our tastebuds and our eyes: made with a Valrhona Chocolate flourless cake, caramelized banana mousse, and walnut praline, the sphere is transformed into a delectable, gooey puddle of chocolate, banana, and caramel goodness as Chef Ojeda pours a warm Kraken spiced rum caramel sauce on top.

For special events like rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions, Ojeda says he enjoys the challenge of creating customized menus to fit a couple's desires and dietary restrictions, from gluten-free dishes to vegetarian feasts.

For some pre- or post-wedding pampering, guests and locals can unwind at the hotel's Amatsu Spa. The Asian-inspired sanctuary offers traditional treatments such as massages and facials combined with speciality services like energy work and ayurvedic therapies.

Amatsu is one of only two spas in the state we know of that features traditional Japanese Ofuro soaking tubs. Couples' treatments for brides and grooms, and group packages for bridal showers and bachelorette parties are available.
