From the Mag: Gatsby-Era Finery by Elizabeth Messina

By Tessa Woolf May 10, 2013

The big day has finally arrived: Baz Luhrmann's remake of The Great Gatsby hits theaters today, and in celebration of the highly anticipated debut, we're sharing exclusive images from our Gatsby-inspired fashion shoot with photographer Elizabeth Messina. We've paired Messina's dreamy photos with some of our favorite quotes from F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel. Enjoy.

A stirring warmth flowed from her, as if her heart was trying to come out to you concealed in one of those breathless, thrilling words. --F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

I hope she'll be a fool--that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool. --F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Life is much more successfully looked at from a single window. --F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

He had come a long way to this blue lawn, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. --F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

There was music from my neighbor's house through the summer nights. In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars. --F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

They had never been closer in their month of love, nor communicated more profoundly one with another, than when she brushed silent lips against his coat's shoulder or when he touched the end of her fingers, gently, as though she were asleep. --F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. --F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Many thanks to Elizabeth Messina for sharing these additional images with us today! For details on the Gatsby-era fashion and finery included in this shoot, check out the original feature from the pages of Salt Lake/Park City Bride & Groom magazine.
