It's hard to believe it, but for most Utah school-age children, entering the second half of August means the summer is almost over. Kids may be dragging their feet as the first day of school approaches, but there is something to look forward to for anyone entering kindergarten through 5th grade: Epic SchoolKids.

As part of Vail Resorts' ongoing efforts to support the local community, Epic SchoolKids was first launched in Utah in the 2015-2016 season. The program is back for the coming ski season, giving young children the opportunity to ski or snowboard for free at Park City for five days during the 2016-17 season. Never skied before?  One free first-time ski or snowboard lesson plus equipment rental is provided as part of the Epic SchoolKids offer anytime in December or January. And it's not just kids who live in Park City that are eligible; elementary schoolers from acorss Utah are eligible to participate as well. You can register your kids for the program online from now until Sunday, Oct. 9.

Recipe for getting the whole family out there this winter.

Given the number of mountain resorts within our reach, hitting the slopes is high up on the list of favorite leisure activities for Utahans. For many of us, some of our most treasured moments are those times up on the hill with our families. Epic SchoolKids is an ideal way to introduce kids to the sport and give them the same precious memories. "It's a great way for Utah kids to stay active and engaged through the winter," says Park City Mountain Resort CEO Bill Rock, "Very few states have skiing and snowboarding so easily accessible and I hope Utah families will take advantage of this incredible opportunity and share the experience of skiing and snowboarding with their kids.”

For those of you with a slightly older brood who always seem to be growing out of their equipment, Park City is also offering gear deals to lend a helping hand. The Junior Trade-In Program allows families to save on gear, with new kids equipment purchases for $199 and trade-ins for outgrown equipment available for $99. Any families interested can contact Breeze retail store at the Park City base area at (435) 649-1902 or Canyon Mountain Sports at (435) 615-3440 for further details and information.

There's no white walkers here in Park City, but we're still saying it: winter is coming!! See you and your kids on the slopes!
