Ready for some post-July 4th fun? We hope your answer is affirmative because Park City summer weekends are absolutely chock-full of events and happenings. Here's a fantastic selection of events to consider to wrap up the glorious Independence Day week.
Sundance under the stars in City Park
Friday, July 6 @ dusk, approx. 9 p.m., City Park
For your dose of film festival in the summer, grab a blanket and picnic then head over to City Park for a free outdoor screening of the Academy Award winning film Man on Wire presented as part of the Sundance Summer Film Series. The compelling documentary tells the extraordinary true events of "the artistic crime of the century," when Philippe Petit, a young Frenchman, illegally rigged a wire between New York's twin towers, the tallest buildings in the world at the time, and danced across.
Take in an al fresco musical theater experience
Friday and Saturday, July 6 & 7 @ 7:30 p.m., High Valley Arts Outdoor Theatre (200 South 400 East, Midway)
Make the trip out to nearby Midway and get lost in the whimsical world of Willy Wonka, The Musical. Presented by the High Valley Arts Outdoor Theatre, this family friendly show is a captivating adaptation of Charlie Bucket's adventure into the magical factory after finding one of five golden tickets. With music from the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Bring your own picnic and enjoy pre-show music starting at 7:30 p.m.; the performance gets underway at 8:15 p.m.
Catch all the thrills of flying Ace All-Stars
Saturday and Sunday, July 7 & 8 @ 1 p.m., Utah Olympic Park
Without a doubt, one of the most spectacular regular events of Park City summers is the Flying Ace All-Stars at the Utah Olympic Park. The All-Stars show features both past and future Olympic freestyle skiers sending it off immense kickers and laying down flips and twists before making a splash in the pool. If you came for the 4th of July festivities and are still in town, the UOP is a fantastic option for more family fun. The UOP also has numerous summer activities, including a stellar zip tour, ropes courses, tubing, and a museum.

Bask in legendary hits from Broadway biggest composers
Saturday, July 7 @ 7:30 p.m., Deer Valley Snow Park Amphitheater
Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Cats, and more Broadway hits await you at the Deer Valley Music Festival. This weekend the Utah Symphony performs music written by Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Bring your on picnic or let Deer Valley whip up a gourmet one and enjoy a top-notch musical experience in the mountains.
Get hoppy with the Hops Hunters Hike
Sunday, July 9 @ 9:30 a.m., Virginia Mining Claims
Did you know Park City area is home to wild hops? If you're a beer aficionado or just love hiking, then join in the Summit Land Conservancy's Hop Hunters Hike. The July 8 hike will be searching for hops on the Virginia Mining Claims. Perched above Old Town, the area is a great place to hike through aspen trees and evergreen forest. At the end of the summer, harvested hops will be brewed into a special beer by Wasatch Brewery. Dogs are welcome, but should be leashed.
