Ahead of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, the Stein Eriksen Lodge teamed up with the event’s longest continuous sponsor, Coca-Cola, for a unique Taste of the Olympic Winter Games event on Thursday, February 8. Coca-Cola has been a part of the Olympic Games since 1928 and over the years, the company has built up an impressive collection of one-of-a-kind Olympic memorabilia they brought out especially for this event, including Olympic torches dating back to 1936 Germany.

Chef Zane Holmquist, Executive Chef at the Stein, whipped up several Olympic-themed food pairings honoring Olympic hosts, including Salt Lake City. Cuisine ranged from Kimbop Korean Vegetable Rolls (PyeongChang, 2018), Raclette (Innsbruck, 1976), and Truffle Arancini (Cortini D’ Ampezzo, 1956) to Oyaki Japanese Dumplings (Nagano, 1998), Steamed Pork Buns (Beijing, 2008), Mr. Eriksen’s Shrimp-Stuffed Eggs (Oslo, 1952), and Veal Goulash (St. Moritz, 1948) to name a few. To commemorate Salt Lake City’s 2002 Games, Holmquist whipped up the Stein’s much-lauded Wild Game Chili (a big hit during the event) and Pigs in a Blanket.

Of course, no Olympic event is complete without athletes and since winter Olympians were tied up in South Korea, Coca-Cola brought in three highly-decorated summer athletes:  Simone Biles, 4x Gold Medalist in Gymnastics, Missy Franklin, 5x Gold Medalist in Swimming and Summer Sanders, 2x Gold Medalist in Swimming.
